Queens of the Locker Room
Fashion is a way of self expression and these strong athletes have a lot to say! These women are not just leaders within their sport but on the runway as well. I love how they each dress for themselves and use their own unique styles as a means of individuality. Beauty within fashion comes in a variety of forms and I felt that these were the women who have made the biggest style impact. These ladies have left an impression on me and I thought you should know their names too.
10.Cappie Marie Pondexter – Former WNBA player
She may have retired from the WNBA but her iconic style lives on. If anything, it just gave her more time to work on her insta game, which, she has been killing lately. Cappie instagrammed this photo captured in the Fightclub shoe store, posing in a Nike City Ready Hooded 2-in-1 Jacket In Aphid Green priced at $300. Cappie will always be a legend on the court so don’t you dare forget her name.
9.Chiny Ogwumike – Los Angeles Sparks
My Chick bad. My chick good. My chick wears stuff that your chick absolutely SHOULD. I love that Chiny can take any dress and use a pair of shoes to express her mood. Stilettos or sneakers it doesn’t matter, she’s killing it. This neon green striped bodycon dress is so flattering on Chiny, paired with some Daniel Patrick sneakers that match to a T.
8.Serena Williams: American Tennis Player
Of course I had to put the legend herself in our top ten list. How could I not? Serena gives 100% to everything she does whether it’s tennis, being a mom, or her admirable style. The 23-time Grand Slam champion has entered into the world of fashion design, creating a body inclusive line last summer. Here, Serena is stylin’ in a cropped matching sweatsuit from her own collection.
7.Sue Bird: Seattle Storm
The Bird is always flying and stylin’ high. Not only has Sue grown as a b-ball player in her 18 seasons in the WNBA, but her style has also flourished over the years. She uses her style as a way of self expression and she is able to show the world who she really is. For this ESPYs look, Sue is in a gorgeous blazer dress made by Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, accessorized with a pair of Jimmy Choo stilettos. This look was styled by the fabulous Karla Welsh.
6.Elizabeth Cambage: Las Vegas Aces
These Ace women are coming in hot! Elizabeth represents that WNBA players can be as femine as they want to be. There are no rules and talent speaks for itself. This English superstar is the new face for Bonds, an Australian line of underwear that values body positivity and celebrating our bodies’ differences. This is one of my favorite looks of hers, fitted in a white ruched cropped blouse x mini skirt by Tlzlfemme.
5.Sydney Colson: Chicago Sky
Sydney’s style is something I like to call unpredictable, in the best way possible. The Sky’s superstar is always keeping us on our toes as she is constantly switching up her style from plaid blazer sets to big graphic tees. Consistency is not key when it comes to style and Sydney puts this on display. This look consists of a red oversized vintage tee from Yesterday’s Fits paired with some shiny Vinyl joggers, topped off with some hot, fire red suede booties.
4. Chloe Jackson: Chicago Sky
Okay…I’m speechless, A+ for this well executed layering look. Have you seen someone look so good in a trench coat?! Chloe accessorizing this look with some Comme des Garcons x Converse Play Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 High kicks valued at $135 and and a Burberry Banner House Check Derby Tote valued at $1290. This Chicago Sky baller has not only proved herself on the court but in the world of fashion as well. She makes any outfit look effortless.
3. Jordin Canada: Seattle Storm
Jordin is taking us by storm with her insane amount of swag. Her game day looks always leave us wanting more. This LA native and WNBA rookie took her style with her up North, showing the Northwest how it’s done. Jordin styles this Aaliyah homage button down with some trendy camo pants paired with Nike x Off-white kicks.
2. Lindsey Vonn: American alpine ski racer
Lindsey Vonn is the real definition of icy. She dominates the world of womens skiing and always brings her top-notch style to any appearance she makes. She keeps it sleek and sexy, making sure to show off her gorgeous figure. How goregeous is this Sheer Tako Mekvabidze two piece set she wore at the Vanity Fair x Saks Fifth Avenue party?!
1. Tamira Young: Las Vegas Aces
Ty is The Sneaker Queen. She gives these NBA boys a run for their money. She describes her style as tomboy chic, a look that she pulls off flawlessly. Here we have her stylin a raspberry speckled #Donotdisturb hoodie ($250) paired with some Alexander Mcqueen leather platform sneakers ($490). If you wanna see what a sneaker closet should indeed look like, I dare you to google her kick room. I swear you won’t be disappointed, but I cant promise you won’t be a little jealous though.
