Selected 1st overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft, which was the first No.1 overall draft pick in New York Liberty history. Saw action in 3 games, starting all 3, in an injury-shortened rookie campaign…Suffered a left ankle sprain in the 2nd quarter against Atlanta on July 31. Ionescu averaged 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 26.7 minutes per game…Sabrina was one point shy of tying the Liberty single-game rookie scoring record on July 29 when she recorded 33 points (6-10 3PT) against Dallas. Her 6 three-point field goals made is the most-ever by a true rookie in Liberty franchise history. Also totaled season-highs of 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the same game against Dallas.


Born on December 6, 1997…Daughter of Dan Ionescu and Liliana Blaj, she has a twin brother, Eddy, who plays basketball at her alma mater. Attended Miramonte High School in Orinda, Calif. where she graduated in 2016. Named the national player of the year by both USA Today and MaxPreps following her senior season. Played in both the McDonald’s All-America and Jordan Brand All-America games. Named the McDonald’s All-America game MVP after scoring a record 25 points, including seven three-pointers, with 10 rebounds. California’s Gatorade state player of the year as a senior. Led Miramonte to the CIF open division title game in her senior season after averaging 25.3 points, 8.8 assists, 7.6 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. In her junior season, Ionescu helped Miramonte to a 30-2 record and an appearance in the CIF open division semifinals.
