Before Isaiah Simmons was shutting down offenses in the NFL, he was an all-state threat on both sides of the ball in his hometown of Olathe, Kansas. The versatile linebacker decided to bring his talents to the South, selecting Clemson University to play collegiate football. After redshirting his freshman year in 2016, Isaiah went on to lead the team in tackles in 2017 as safety. Leading the team in tackles, as he transitioned to linebacker in the 2018 season, Isaiah and Clemson had a monumental season. Isaiah’s nine tackles, one for a lost helped the Tigers roll over Alabama’s No. 1 Crimson Tide in the College Football National Championship. Returning for the 2019 season, Isaiah Simmons continued to rack up the accolades. Not only was he named the ACC Defensive player of the year, but he was the first Clemson player to receive the Butkus award, given to the nation’s best linebacker.
Dabo Swinney called Simmons an “uncommon talent” leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft. The league agreed, as Isaiah Simmons was selected eighth overall by the Arizona Cardinals. Simmons had his first career interception on the primetime stage of Sunday Night Football against Russell Wilson!
Isaiah may be new in the league, but he styles like a veteran. He told ProTrending that his interest in fashion stemmed from the competitive nature that ran through the Clemson program and his desire to always be the best dressed on game days. Isaiah states that normally he “lets the shoes do the talking” and is excited to be in the league to really explore where his style will go. Gucci is a go-to for the young linebacker, but when it comes to Jordan’s, it’s all about the 1’s.
