Long Island, New York fostered the young basketball talent of Daniel Richard Green Jr. His father, Danny Sr. instilled the love and dedication of the game to his son, who quickly started making his mark on the court. Catching the eye of Roy Williams, Danny was soon on a recruiting trip to the hallowed basketball ground at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. As a Tar Heel, he was the sixth man off the bench his freshman year. Taking his time to develop his skills to a high level, Green spent all four years playing at Chapel Hill. Danny’s consistency culminated in the 2009 National Championship, his senior season. With a collegiate resume packed with conference and school records, Green was selected as the 46th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft to the Cleveland Cavaliers.Â
A less than ideal start to his professional career amongst a stacked Cavs roster, Green was waived from the team following his rookie season. Signing with a D-League team, he caught the eye of yet another famed coach, Greg Popovich. Turning into an early journeyman in the league, Green popped between the D-League and active Spurs roster in his first two seasons with the franchise. Green’s tenacity was yet again rewarded with a three-year contract in 2012, that kept his spurs spinning. Known for his sharp accuracy, especially when it comes to the three, Danny helped his squad to the 2013 NBA Finals. While the Spurs would eventually lose to the Heat, Green set an NBA record in the 2013 NBA Finals for most threes made in a finals series. The Spurs got another crack at the Miami Heat in the finals just the next year, but this time came out victorious and Green gained his first NBA Championship. Green would remain in San Antonio for three additional seasons before a trade involving Kawhi Leonard sent them to the Toronto Raptors. Receiving a very warm welcome in the North, Green and the Raptors brought the city its first NBA Championship in 2019. Finding himself on yet another stacked roster, Green signed with the Lakers ahead of the 2019-2020 season.Â
When it comes to Danny’s drip it’s all fun and games. Graphic tees and distressed jeans are staples in the closet of Green and speaking of green, he’s never afraid to wear bold colors! Even when it comes to dressing up, there’s always a use of bold color or fun patterns in his suit game. Above all, there’s a ‘cool guy’ swag that is communicated with whatever fit Danny puts together.
