Rory was born in Holywood...
Northern Ireland and is an only child. His father, Gerry, introduced him to golf at a very young age. Gerry, who was a golfer himself would take Rory golfing almost everyday so he could teach him everything he knew. When Rory was just seven years old he joined the Holywood Golf Club and became the youngest member to ever join. His father wanted to see Rory succeed so much so that he held down several different jobs to help bring in additional income. He did this to make sure that his son saw his golf dreams through.
When Rory was 17 years old he turned pro and in just a short period of time had his first win with the European Tour in 2009. By the time he was 23 he became the youngest player to ever reach $10 million in career earnings on the PGA Tour. Rory has also been named the PGA Player of the Year twice. In 2012 and 2014 he was the recipient of both the Vardon Trophy as well as the Byron Nelson Award.
- Has won three majors by the age of 25. The only other men to have done this were Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, and Jack Nicklaus
- In 2014 he replaced Tiger Woods as the namesake for the PGA Tour golf game
- Is a diehard fan of Manchester United and got to star in a Nike commercial alongside Manchester United player Wayne Rooney in 2013
