Philip Michael Rivers
Born in Decatur, Alabama
Philip Rivers is a southern football statue hailing from small town Alabama. A true competitor at his core, Rivers chose North Carolina State University, where he could walk in as a starting quarterback. As a four year starter, Rivers consistency shined, crushing ACC conference records along the way. In his senior season with the Wolfpack, Rivers finished with over 4,000 yards and 34 touchdowns. That success capped off Rivers being the most productive quarterback in ACC history.
The fourth overall pick in the 2004 draft to the San Diego Chargers, Rivers has played all 14 years of his career with the franchise. His first two years in the league were the only time in his career that Rivers rode the bench. Injury lead to game action for Rivers, who quickly secured his starting position on the squad. Eight ProBowls and a passer rating of 95.7% later, Rivers is regarded as one of the most competitive and consistent players of the game.
- Philip met his wife, Tiffany, in the 7th grade
- His father wore the same number 17 when he played football
- Philip had never attended a NFL game before playing in his season opener
- He customized a van with film watching abilities so he could maximize his commute when the franchise moved to Los Angeles.
