Paul Clifton Anthony George
Born in Fresno, California
OKC’s big small forward Paul George was born in Fresno, California. He was a Kobe fan from day one, playing one-on-one with his big sister at the park. It wasn't till high school that Paul joined an organized team. He was behind his classmates in basketball years. Nonetheless, his raw talent saw him excel at a rapid pace. Paul committed to Fresno State after his senior year.
At Fresno State Paul got want he wanted - playing time. He led the Western athletic conference in minutes played, and made the most of it. Entering his sophomore year, Sports Illustrated dubbed Paul the eighth most entertaining player in college basketball. The next year he declared for the draft, going 10th overall to the Indiana Pacers. He rewarded the choice with 2 NBA All-Star selections and six playoff runs in seven seasons. The only year the Pacers didn't pay in the postseason was the year Paul broke two bones in his leg. After a falling out with the Pacers, Paul found himself traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. With the Thunder, Paul has found a bigger stage for his elite level skills.
- His primary opponent in 1-on-1 – his big sister Teiosha – played at Pepperdine in college.
- Paul made the ESPN Play of the Day in 2008
- Paul is the namesake of both parents, Paul George and Paulette George.
