Patrick Lavon Mahomes II
Born in Tyler, Texas...
A product of Texas football, Patrick Mahomes was a dual-threat quarterback who shined under those Friday night lights. As a three-sport athlete, Mahomes’ big arm gained national recognition in both football ranks and as a pitcher. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers out of high school but decided to stay on the gridiron and commit to playing football for Texas Tech. A true freshman at Tech, Mahomes was the second man up, until injury moved him up the depth chart, where he remained. He finished his freshman season with appearances in seven games with over 1,500 passing yards and 16 touchdowns. Mahomes’ big arm continued to produce at Tech, locking in NCAA records in single-game passing yards and single-game total offense records.
Styling in a subtle checkered navy suit, Mahomes was selected No.10 overall in the 2017 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. While he only saw the field once during his rookie season, the Chiefs made their intentions clear on his abilities by trading starter Alex Smith in the off-season. As the starter in 2018, Mahomes had a record-setting season that culminated with the Chief's first AFC Championship appearance since 1993, a pro-bowl selection and MVP trophy for Mahomes.
A boss-like swag defines this young quarterback’s style. Mahomes’ arrives to most road games in a full-blown suite, with a perfectly folded pocket square to match. Deep jewel tones are the color pallette he plays with most often before games and imprints that business-trip mentality message to fans. Never afraid to mix patterns, even in elevated fashion situations, look for this young quarterbacks’ style to continue to rise in the ranks of the league’s best.
