Kylian Mbappe Lottin
The French wunderkind got his start as a youth signing for AS Monaco and, from the start, shone brighter than most. Making his debut for the senior club in December of 2015, Mbappe would make just 41 starts for Monaco before the world became aware of just how good he was, and the big clubs came calling. In 2017, it was Paris Saint Germain (PSG) who won the race for the young Frenchman, paying a (rumored) 145 million euros for him, making him the most expensive teenage player ever. There was no adjustment period in the capital, either. He scored 13 goals his first year and has already topped that with 18 in 15 appearances in his first full season with Les Parisiens.
Success has come not just for the club, but for the country. He made his full France debut in 2017 in a FIFA World Cup qualification match against Luxembourg, becoming the second-youngest player in the history of Les Bleus. In the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Mbappe would become the youngest world cup goalscorer in France history, the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award, and carried the World Cup trophy back home. Off the field, Mbappe will be seen frequently wearing Nike, of which he is a spokesperson, and other types of athletic wear and many, many pairs of slick sneakers.
- At 145 million euros, Mbappe’s transfer fee made him the most expensive teenager and the second most expensive player every, behind his PSG teammate Neymar.
- Mbappe chose to donate all of his World Cup earnings to Priers de Cordes (a sports charity in France)
- He was the first teenager since Pele to score twice in a world cup match
