Kenneth Bernard Faried Lewis
Born in Newark, New Jersey
Coming from Newark, New Jersey, Kenneth Faried was not a heavily recruited high schooler. He played at a small school in Newark. Division 1 colleges did not come beating down his door. With mostly New York schools courting him, Kenneth chose Morehead University. He chose to play all four years of his college eligibility. His senior year he broke Tim Duncan's Division I career rebounding record. Moorehead upset Louisville in the first round of the NCAA tournament, gaining Faried national attention. He declared for the 2011 NBA Draft.
Kenneth went to the Denver Nuggets with the 22nd pick. He started 39 games in his rookie year. He made the NBA All-Rookie Team and finished third in Rookie of the Year voting. Injuries hampered Faried's career in Denver. He was eventually moved to a bench position. In 2018 he was traded to Brooklyn Nets. In early 2019 he was waived by the Nets. Claimed by the Houston Rockets in the same month, Faried joins a red hot squad in position for a deep playoff run in the West.
