James Edward Harden Jr
Born in Los Angeles, California
James Harden was born in Los Angeles, California. He played his high school ball at Artesia High School. He won back-to-back state championships his junior and senior years. James found himself in the national spotlight after an AAU tournament in Vegas where his team defeated Kevin Love's squad to win it all. He committed to Arizona State University for his college career.
After two successful years at Arizona State, James declared for the 2019 NBA draft. The Oklahoma City Thunder scooped him up with the third pick. On a squad with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, the speedy young James was given sixth-man duties. James was so good off the bench for the Thunder, he won the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award in 2010. James got his first taste of championship basketball in the 2012 Finals series. He lost to the LeBron led Miami Heat. The next year he joined the Houston Rockets. This proved to be a match made in heaven as James blossomed into the 2018 MVP. An elite scorer with ridiculous stat lines, James has his Rockets in position to compete for more than a few rings in the years to come.
- Harden’s arrival in Houston was the result of contract breakdowns. He felt he was not given enough time to consider the deal OKC offered and the Thunder traded him away before his rookie deal expired.
- Harden started growing his trademark beard in 2009 after being too lazy to shave
- This season, James became the first player in NBA history to score a 40-point triple-double in 30 minutes of play.
