Evander Frank Kane
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Kane was named after American Boxer Evander Hoyfield. With an amateur boxing Father and college volleyball playing Mother, Kane started skating around age 3. At John Oliver Secondary High School, Kane played baseball, basketball, and soccer, in addition to hockey. During his Junior career, Kane snagged a Memorial Championship, the Jim Piggot Memorial Trophy for Rookie of the Year, and set a team record for single-season goals.
In 2009, Kane signed with the Atlanta Thrashers, who later became the Winnipeg Jets. He netted his first goal, in his NHL debut. In 2015, the Jets traded Kane to the Buffalo Sabers. Facing behavioral issues and performance problems, Buffalo traded Kane to San Jose just before the 2018 trade deadline. Since becoming a Shark, Kane has stepped up his game.
