Dwyane Tyrone Wade Jr
He was born in one of the roughest neighborhoods of Chicago's South Side in Illinois. Dwayne Wade faced an uphill battle from the start. Overcoming early life struggles defined him. Role models guided him. Sports saved him. In spite of his city's reputation, in the shadow of crime and gang violence, Dwayne triumphed.
A standout in football and basketball, Dwayne chose the hardwood over the gridiron. He fell in love with his hoop dreams. The court loved him back. He played his college ball at Marquette University in Wisconsin. A regional MVP and Final Four berth convinced Dwayne and pro scouts alike he was ready for the big time. He went number five in the 2003 NBA draft. Two years later he became a world champion. He added two more titles to his mantle over the next 10 years, cementing his legendary status in Miami.
