DeMarre LaEdrick Carroll
Born in Birmingham, AL...
Back-to-back high school state championships in his home state of Alabama put Birmingham native, DeMarre Carrol on a national map. Carroll’s collegiate journey started at Vanderbilt University, where he shot over 500 in his two seasons with the Commodores. It was then that he decided to leave the Vanderbilt program in lieu of the University of Missouri, where his uncle, Mike Anderson was the coach. The decision to transfer proved to be the right one, as DeMarre led the Tigers to the Elite Eight in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.
A first-round draft pick to the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2009 NBA Draft started the eventual journeyman’s career. Finding a true home in the 2012-2013 season with the Utah Jazz, where the fans really embraced Carroll, dubbing him the nickname “Junkyard Dog”. His tenacious hustle that the fans loved so much helped secure a starting role and career highs with his new team, the Atlanta Hawks. Carroll brought his boisterous style and play to both the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets organizations before eventually ending up on the trading block to the San Antonio Spurs.
When it comes to fashion for Carroll, it’s always colorful. He’s never one to shy away from bold prints and head to toe design, something instilled in him from his childhood. He’s stated that as a child, his mother would dress them in matching ensembles that were often bold tracksuit combinations, and that has stuck with him. If he’s looking to tone down and stay away from say a full Versace monogrammed silk sweatsuit, believe that at least his top and shoes will be popping. Those two are always the loud aspects of his fit, leaning into a more slimcut dark wash pant in said fashion situations. He states that he always dresses as if he’s “going to meet his worst enemy”. Never sleep on DeMarre’s accessory game, that’s an area he is sure to be on point. The go-to statement piece: Gucci bracelets.
- Woof woof! Junkyard Dog was his nickname collegiately due to his toughness on the court
- A one-man show! The passion for fashion for DeMarre is real and he puts together all his own looks without the aid of a stylist!
- DeMarre is developing his own line with designer Christopher Bates that will be released in 2020.
