Courtney Lee was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He played his high school ball at Pike High School. He won the Indiana 4A State Championship in 2003. His AAU team won several state titles as well. A star in the Midwest, Courtney was recruited hard by Western Kentucky University. He played four years for the Hilltoppers. In 2008 he led them to the NCAA Sweet 16. When he declared for the 2008 NBA Draft, his college jersey was retired.
Lee was drafted in the first round by the Orlando Magic. In his rookie year, Courtney and the Magic advanced to the NBA Finals, losing to Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. The next five years saw Courtney in as many jerseys. He was a New Jersey Net for a season, a Houston Rocket for two, a Celtic for two, a Memphis Grizzly for another two, and a Charlotte Horney for one. In the offseason of 2016, he became a New York Knick. Apart of the multi-player trade deal that was centered around Kristaps Porziņģis, Lee became a Dallas Maverick in January
