Carmelo Kyam Anthony
Carmelo Anthony was born in the Red Hook projects...
in Brooklyn, New York City. His family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland when he was 8. Carmelo focused on basketball to avoid the pitfalls of his rough Baltimore neighborhood. Before his junior year he sprouted five inches becoming a 6'5" swingman. Carmelo struggled in the classroom and college scouts questioned his academic abilities. . Transferring to Oak Hill academy allowed him to grow as a player and a student. A stunning senior year on the court and off helped him capture a scholarship to Syracuse University. In his one season with Syracuse, he captured the attention of the NBA and an NCAA tournament championship. He declared for the 2003 NBA Draft.
The Denver Nuggets claimed Carmelo in the first round. In his rookie year, he made the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He finished behind only LeBron James in Rookie of the Year voting. Carmelo led the Nuggets to the playoffs in every year he played for them. In 2011 he was dealt to the New York Knicks and became a star under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden. In 2017 he asked for and was granted a trade. He joined the Oklahoma City Thunder for the 2018 season. He played in OKC for one season. His next team was the Atlanta hawks. He never suited for the Hawks Atlanta waved him and Carmelo signed next with the Chicago Bulls.
