Brandon Xavier Ingram
Kinston, North Carolina was known...
for its crime rate when Brandon Ingram was growing up. Thanks to his family, Brandon helped give it a new rep. He was a star by eighth grade. In all four years of high school, Ingram and the Kinston Vikings won the state championship. He took home the championship game MVP trophy his senior year. North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association crowned him Mr. Basketball for the state. It came as no surprise when he committed to Duke for his college ball.
At Duke, Brandon continued to amaze. In his only season as a Blue Devil, he had one of the best ever for a freshman. He finished ranking in the top 3 among the school's all-time freshman scorers. He declared for the NBA draft the following year. The Lakers chose him with the second pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. Brandon plays beyond his years. He is only a year older than the other young stars of the Lakers youthful roster, but performs like a seasoned vet. He is one of LA's stat leaders night in and night out, changing games with his offense and defense.
- Brandon said he “probably” would have committed to North Carolina, but the Tar Heels were in the midst of a far-reaching academic scandal
- His 7’3” wingspan has drawn comparisons to Kevin Durant, and like Durant, he has been criticized for his slim frame
- Ingram’s passion for art began with a drawing class at Duke
